Tortured by Rodney_Trenchard

Walking along the track at 3am I could hear the ice cracking under my feet. I don’t know what the temperature was but it was high on the “very bloody coldameter”. I was shooting down near the famous boatshed and as the warm sunrise hit my back I started thinking about a small tarn back down the track. Upon arriving my theories were confirmed, it was frozen. I set about trying to get solid FG detail and still hold some height in Cradles peaks. After about an hour of trying different focal lengths and heights this is what I ended up with. A hand held focus stack (which is much harder than it sounds) at 14mm. I did slightly miss the focus on the FG but I still feel it’s a strong enough image. It was a beautiful morning and one I will remember for a lifetime. via 500px
