Early morning light plays off a lone Juniper tree and a monolith as the moon looks down on them in envy. My friend Jeff Deveau turned me on to this spot In Joshua Tree. I knew about it but had no idea where it was. He had picked this morning after doing research to find out when the moon would be over the monolith and low on the horizon. We had planned the shoot a month or so in advance. I had planned to head out a day or two in advance in order to get a campsite since it's almost impossible to get a site on weekends this time of year. Plus I wanted to spend time scouting some historical sites in the park. As the week of the shoot approached, Jeff found out he had a dinner engagement in Los Angeles that night that he had to attend. It ended up being a really long night for him. Driving to LA for dinner, then all the way to Joshua Tree arriving at around 2:30 am. His perseverance paid off. His image mad Editors Choice Yesterday!! Congrats!! Here's a link to Jeff's image. http://ift.tt/1CsWa8C via 500px
