I'd rather hike for 10 miles, enjoy beautiful scenery and not get a single photo as opposed to just driving up to a location and getting the "shot of a lifetime". I'm an outdoor enthusiast first, photographer second. However, I've also made it a point not to turn my nose up at locations that are appealing to me, regardless of how accessible or photographed they are. I saw a photo of a red barn with a mountain in the background years ago and knew nothing about it, except I thought it looked like a really cool location. Being our first spring in the NW, I've had it in the back of my mind that I've been wanting to shoot the red barn in Hood River nestled in a pear orchard. Since the trees are blossoming early, Terence Lee, Rami Jabaji and myself made the trip over to Hood River to shoot. When we arrived at the pear orchard, there were only 3 other photographers there....plenty of space to shoot, right? False. It only takes one bad pear to spoil the bunch. One of the photographers was shooting with Nikon's 6mm fisheye lens and was very protective over his award winning composition with included everywhere we wanted to go. Reasonable he was not. However, I was with good company as it brought to light how polite Terence and Rami since they handled the situation with grace. With all that being said, finding a good composition without getting yelled at was a bit challenging on this particular evening, but we did the best with what we had. via 500px
